The mounted group of ten miniature dress medals attributed to Major-General (Surgeon) Sir Robert Porter, Royal Army Medical Corps, Order of the Bath, Military Division, gold and enamel; Order of St. Michael and St. George, gold and enamel; Ashanti Star; Queen’s South Africa, 5 clasps, Cape Colony, Elanslaagte, Defence of Ladysmith, Orange Free State, Transvaal; King’s South Africa, 2 clasps; 1914 Star with clasp; British War and Victory Medals, M.I.D. Oakleaf; Belgium, Order of the Crown, Officer’s, silver-gilt, gold and enamel, rosette on ribbon; Belgium, Croix de Guerre, ‘A’ cypher, mounted Court style as worn, good very fine and better (10) £200-240

Major-General Sir Robert Porter served in the Ashanti Expedition where he was mentioned in despatches. Service in the Second Boer War included actions at Elandslaagte, Lombard’s Kop and the Defence of Ladysmith. In the Great War he attained the rank of Surgeon-General and was six times mentioned in despatches.
