1914 Star (M6/68 J. D. Draper, A.B., R.N.V.R., Anson Bttn., R.N.D.) good very fine £40-50

John D. Draper was born in Toxteth, Liverpool in July 1889 and worked locally as a river bargeman until enlisting in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve in August 1914. Posted to the Anson Battalion, Royal Naval Division, he survived the early operations in Antwerp and was next embarked for Gallipoli, in which theatre of war he served until December 1915 when he was invalided home with fever. Then in March 1916 he was discharged to take up a post in a ‘fleet Auxiliary Vessel’.
