Thomas Albert Smith was born at Tottenham, Middlesex and enlisted in London. He was killed in action at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915, during the initial landings at ‘W’ Beach. The regiment famously gained the award of six Victoria crosses in this action. He has no known grave and his name is therefore commemorated on the Helles memorial.
