D.C.M. London Gazette 3 June 1919 ‘He has always displayed great gallantry and devotion to duty. Throughout the recent actions of the battalion on the 8th October 1918 he commanded his platoon with marked ability. By his able leadership and disregard for personal safety, he set an excellent example to those under his command, and gained the complete cofidence of all ranks.’
