Royal Society for the Protection of Life from Fire, 3rd type (1850’s-1891) silver medal (To Francis Wm. Boon, Metropolitan Fire Brigade, for Intrepid exertions in Saving Life; October 14, 1869. Case 11,816) fitted with silver ribbon brooch, contact marks and heavy rim bruise, otherwise very fine £250-300

Awarded silver medal for saving one life from a fire at George Terrace in the Lewisham Road on 14 October 1869. His service sheet also records that he had previously saved two lives from a fire in Tooley Street on 5 July 1868. He received the Metropolitan Fire Brigade medal for long service from the hands of H.R.H. the Duke of Cambridge on 3 July 1884, and retired on full pension on 2 October 1894.
