Herbert Alfred Potter was born at Thrandlston, Suffolk, on 12 August 1884. After 8 years service in the Royal Garrison Artillery, he joined the Metropolitan Police on 13 June 1910. Promoted to Sergeant in July 1921, to Station Sergeant in May 1927, to Inspector in October 1929, and retired on pension on 14 June 1936. Inspector Potter died on 31 December 1963.
