Yeo.); Jubilee 1897, Metropolitan Police (P.C., X Divn.); Coronation 1911, Metropolitan Police (P.C.) together with Metropolitan Police Shooting League (Inst. 1911), silver prize medal (Presented to P.C. Eyres, N. Divn. 24th July 1913) in its Mappin & Webb case of issue, very fine or better, the last scarce (4) £140-180

Alfred Eyres was born at Manchester and joined the 4th Dragoon Guards on 20 January 1883, aged 19 years and 1 month. He qualified as a saddle-tree maker at Woolwich in 1886, and was discharged as a Corporal in January 1895. He had joined the Metropolitan Police in September 1891 and served for the next 8 years in “X” Division but, being also on the Army reserve, he was recalled in January 1901 and served in South Africa with the 12th (South Nottingham) Company, Imperial Yeomanry, being discharged as a Sergeant on 30 August 1901. He rejoined the Metropolitan Police on 17 August 1903 and finally retired on pension on 24 May 1920. Sold with copy service papers and other research.
