Four: Warrant Officer Class II W. R. Pratt, South African Service Corps

1939-45 Star; Africa Star; War Medal 1939-45; Africa Service Medal,
all officially inscribed ‘51470 W. R. Pratt’, the first with repaired suspension loop, generally good very fine (4) £20-25

William Rudolph Pratt was born in Pietermaritzburg in February 1900 and enlisted in the Union Defence Force in April 1940. Subsequently posted to the East African theatre of war, where he served from June 1940 until April 1942, he was present in the Abyssinia operations while attached to an Ammunition Company. Thereafter employed back in South Africa, he was advanced to Warrant Officer Class II in September 1945 and was finally discharged at Durban in March 1947. It would appear that Pratt did not claim his campaign awards until the 1950s, in addition to a replacement Africa Star in April 1983; sold with copy service record.
