Stoker Petty Officer J.E. Parrott was killed in action, aged 38, whilst serving aboard the destroyer H.M.S. Janus, 23.1.1944.

The destroyer
Janus took part in the British and American landing at Anzio, 22.1.1944. The following day, when off Nettuno, she was hit by a torpedo from a German dive-bomber and foundered in 22 minutes, taking with her, the Captain, Lt. Cdr. W.B.R. Morrison, six officers and 155 ratings.
