Frederick Isaac was born at Bishopstone, Sussex, on 14 December 1868, son of John G. Isaac, H.M. Coast Guard, and younger brother of Charles John Isaac. He joined the Royal Navy on 11 June 1884 as a Boy 2nd Class and was commissioned as Gunner in November 1898, becoming Chief Gunner in November 1913. He served during the Great War in command of Torpedo Boat No. 85, as Paravane officer, until May 1915 when he joined Changuinola. In this ship he served until his death on 30 January 1919 when he is reported to have been drowned. His record of service notes that he was present at the Halifax explosion 6 December 1917, and that he ‘showed great ability in rescue work at Halifax’. Sold with further research.
