Thomas Perry was born in 1884 at Wednesbury, Staffordshire, and enlisted in January 1906. Transferred to the Army Reserve in February 1913, he was recalled on the outbreak of war and joined the 1st Life Guards as a reinforcement on 9 November 1914. He was discharged as physically unfit for war service on 14 July 1916.
