Lieutenant-Colonel Alfred Carnac Watson was born in 1866 and entered the British Army as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Wiltshire Regiment in 1886. He entered the Indian Staff Corps in 1888 and served in the Hazara 1891 Expedition as a Lieutenant in the 11th Bengal Infantry. He attained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1912. Serving with the Indian Army during the Great War, he was Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazette, 27.8.1918).
