, 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal (171 Tpr., Lumsden’s Horse), remains of a brooch fitting attached to backstrap of last two clasps; Volunteer Force Long Service (India), G.V.R. (Pte., 1st Bihar Lt. Horse, I.D.F.), edge bruise; Efficiency Medal, G.V.R., ‘India’, with bar and rosette on ribbon (L-Cpl., Bihar L.H., A.F.I.); Jubilee 1935. mounted as worn, good very fine and better (4) £160-200

Lance-Corporal Reginald William Royds Birch was an indigo planter from Purneah. He served in ‘B’ Company, No.2 Section, Lumsden’s Horse. He became ill with enteric fever and was hospitalized in Johannesburg then invalided to England. He subsequently returned to India and served in the Bihar Light Horse.
