Ex Douglas-Morris Collection.

John Pepperell was awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal in August 1873.

He was born in Exeter, Devon in January 1828 and joined the Royal Navy as a Stoker aboard H.M.S.
Valorous in July 1853. Subsequently employed in the same ship in the Baltic and Crimea operations, he was advanced to Leading Stoker in January 1861 and discharged ashore in August 1873.
