Charles Gregory was awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal in December 1861.

He was born in Rochester, Kent and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 1st Class aboard H.M.S.
Undaunted in July 1827. Advanced to Able Seaman in July 1834, he went on to witness active service in the Melville during the First China War and in the Neptune during the Baltic operations. His final appointment was as Gunner’s Mate in Victory and he was discharged ashore in December 1861.
