South Durham Fusiliers Militia, an extremely fine and rare officer’s glengarry badge c1874-1881, a silver coloured metal fused grenade fitted with flush back of similar metal, the ball mounted with a floreated ‘3’ (county precedence number), a silver and blue flush enemelled Garter Proper the inner St George’s cross decorated with thirteen inlaid red glass ‘stones’, a floreated scroll below inscribed ‘The Durham Fusiliers’, original pin back, the pin missing, 55mm x 29mm, excellent facial condition £200-250

The officer’s full dress fur cap grenade badge is larger but of similar format, though the cross section is normally red enamel. This regiment was the only English Fusilier Milita regiment
