50th (or the Queen’s Own Regiment), an extremely fine and rare officer’s shako 1855-1861 pattern, ‘beaver’ (French plush) body with sunken leather top bound leather front and back peaks stitched leather bottom bracing band and original leather chin strap, fine gilt shako plate (KK122) and original white over red pom-pom and correct pattern ‘cut-ball’ and floreate plume holder, correct pierced Medusa’s head bronzed rear ventilator, internally broad leather sweatband and crimson silk fringe present, top and upper wall silks missing, two very small sections of the plush missing left rear, plume prong part missing, otherwise very fine overall condition £700-800
