The contemporary group of four miniatures worn by Sergeant F. J. Sears, D.C.M. & Bar, Royal Marine Artillery, comprising Distinguished Conduct Medal, V.R., with Second Award Bar, dated ‘November 21st-24th 1899’; Sudan 1896; Meritorious Service Medal, V.R., obverse bust as for E. & W. Africa, with straight bar suspension; Khedive’s Sudan 1896-1908, 4 clasps, Khartoum, Sudan 1897, Sudan 1899, Gedid, rather crudely stitched on cloth strip, the D.C.M. now detached, generally very fine (4) £100-150

Sergeant F. J. Sears, R.M.A., won the D.C.M. for the battle of the Atbara, 8 April 1898, and was awarded a Bar for the final pursuit and defeat of the Khalifa in November 1899.
