The mounted group of eight miniature dress medals to Lieutenant-Colonel C. L. Barlow, D.S.O., Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, late West Yorkshire Regiment, D.S.O., G.V.R., silver-gilt and enamel; Q.S.A., 5 clasps, Orange Free State, Rel. of Ladysmith, Transvaal, Laing’s Nek, South Africa 1901; A.G.S., 2 clasps, East Africa 1902, East Africa 1905; 1914-15 Star Trio with M.I.D. oak leaf; Order of the Nile, silver, gilt and enamel; French Croix de Guerre 1914-18, with bronze palm, the Egyptian piece with slightly bent suspension device and loose centre, otherwise good very fine (8) £150-200

Lieutenant-Colonel C. L. Barlow was killed in action whilst commanding the 1st/5th Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders during the fighting at Hill 158, near Beugneux on 1 August 1918.
