Army L.S.G.C., V.R., small letter reverse (1276 Michl. Burns, 2nd Batt. 7th Foot) nearly very fine £50-60

Michael Burns was born at Limerick, and attested for the 97th Foot at Liverpool on 29 June 1849. He volunteered to the 20th Foot in March 1851 and served with that regiment throughout the Crimean War (Medal with 4 clasps and Turkish medal). He transferred to the 97th Foot in May 1856 and served with that regiment during the Indian Mutiny at the siege and capture of Delhi (Medal with clasp). He was transferred to the 2nd 7th Fusiliers in October 1860 and was finally discharged from that regiment on 2 December 1873. Sold with copy discharge papers.
