Army L.S.G.C., V.R., small letter reverse (392 Pte. J. E. Deacon, 1-2nd Foot) together with original Pay Book for the period 1860-78, and Royal Hospital, Chelsea, certificate of Pension, very fine £60-80

James Edward Deacon was born at Kinsbury, Berkshire, and enlisted for the 2nd Foot on 28 November 1859. He embarked for China on 6 July 1860 and served in the South of China from 1 November to 20 December 1860. He subsequently served in the East Indies from October 1866 until April 1879. He was discharged on 7 December 1880 and granted a pension of 13 pence per day.
