Army L.S.G.C., W.IV.R. (W. Stewart, R. Serj. Major 6th Dragoon Guards. 1837) with original steel clip and bar suspension, extremely fine £400-450

William Stewart was born in the Parish of Donoughmore, County Tyrone, and attested at Strabane, for the 6th Drqagoon Guards, on 15 May 1801, aged 18. He embarked in October 1806 with the expedition to South America, was wounded in the right hand at Buenos Ayres, and returned in December 1807. He served the remainder of his time at home, having been promoted to Corporal in August 1807, to sergeant in June 1812, and to regimental Sergeant Major in June 1817. He held this rank until his final discharge on 10 November 1835. Sold with copy discharge papers.
