Acting Sergeant Roland Bird, born Parkhurst, I.O.W., enlisted Newport, I.O.W., was killed in action, France & Flanders, on 22 March 1915. He is buried in Lancashire Cottage Cemetery, Comines-Warneton, Hainaut, Belgium.
