India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Burma 1885-7 (Capt. J. C. Swann, 1st Bo. Infy.), official correction to surname, slight edge bruising and contact marks, very fine £140-180

Lieutenant-Colonel John Christopher Swann, entered the British Army in 1875 as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 45th (Nottinghamshire) Regiment. Appointed to the Indian Staff Corps in 1880, he served in Afghanistan Campaign 1880 and Sudan Campaign 1885 for which he was awarded medals. He served in the Burma Campaign 1885-87, was promoted Major in 1895 and Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel the following year. He served as Commandant of the 1st Regiment Bombay Infantry and Officiating Assistant Adjutant General of Sind.
