New Zealand 1845-1866, reverse dated ‘1863 to 1864’ (A. Craig, A.B. H.M.S. Miranda) nearly extremely fine £250-300

Archibald Craig was born at Clapham, Surrey, on 30 October 1840, and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class on 10 March 1856. Whilst serving in Miranda, he was discharged to Auckland Provincial Gaol on 1 February 1863, for ‘direct disobedience of orders and riotous conduct’, where he served 28 days with hard labour and solitary confinement.
