Military General Service 1793-1814, 8 clasps, Roleia, Vimiera, Talavera, Fuentes D’Onor, Vittoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Orthes (James Todd, 71st Foot) bottom carriage a little bent, edge bruising and contact marks, otherwise nearly very fine and rare £1000-1200

Ex Murray Collection.

James Todd was a member of a small detachment present, under Captain Walker of the 71st Foot, at Talavera, for which only ten men lived to claim the clasp. The published medal rolls show entitlement to 9 clasps, with Toulouse in addition. This last clasp, although never fitted to the medal, is confirmed by a note on the roll “Toulouse added July 23, 1849”. Sold with further research and muster details.
