Ex H. Y. Usher Collection 1975.

Major H. S. Lockhart-Ross was second in command of the 5th Battalion in the operations in the Orange River Colony, June to July 1901; operations in Cape Colony, July 1901 to 1902, and also served as Commandant at Jagersfontein and at Stormberg. He was mentioned in despatches by Lord Kitchener
London Gazette 29 July 1902. He was appointed Honorary Colonel on 21 March 1905, and was the Commanding Officer of the 5th Battalion in 1906.
