Henry Goddard was persuaded to join SHANNON's Naval Brigade as an A.B. on 20 August 1857. He was a Merchant Seaman who volunteered whilst aboard the CITY OF DELHI at Calcutta. He was born in Bridgetown, Barbados in October 1834. He returned home to U.K. aboard SHANNON, and was paid off to shore on 15 January 1859.
