William Roberts was born in Rodington, Salop, and served in the 39th Foot from 20 December 1803 to 12 November 1816, a total of 12 years 362 days. He was discharged at ‘camp near St Omer’ being unfit for further service owing to his age and being worn out, aged 46 on his discharge.
