Military Medal, G.V.R. (Ply.-16974 Pte. T. Urquhart, R.M.L.I.) edge bruising and polished, otherwise nearly very fine £250-300

M.M. London Gazette 13 March 1918: Pte. T. Urquhart, R.M.L.I., attd. M.G. Coy. (Glasgow). Awarded for gallantry in the action of Welch Ridge, 30/31 December 1917.

Thomas Urquhart was a tinsmith from Glasgow. He joined the RMLI at Deal 19 Aug 1914 and was posted to the RM Brigade on 20 Nov 1914. He served with them in Gallipoli from 29 April 1915 to 9 Jan 1916 and in France from 12 May 1916. Wounded in action 24 Feb 1917 he was taken POW 31 Dec 1917 and released 24 Dec 1918. On return to the UK he served at Plymouth Division until Oct 1919 when he joined HMS Malborough until Oct 1920. To Plymouth Division until discharged 21 Jan 1922 ‘services no longer required’.
