Albert Arthur James served in France from 14 August 1914 to 1 April 1915 where he was wounded whilst serving with the 2nd Battalion, Connaught Rangers. He subsequently served with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force from 5 November 1917 to 30 June 1918, having received a commission in his regiment on 6 May 1918. During the Second War he was given the Brevet rank of Major on 1 March 1942, serving with the Leicestershire Regiment. Sold with copy m.i.c. confirming entitlement to clasp for the 1914 Star.
