Royal Naval Georgian Midshipman’s Dirk, c1790-1797 and probably by Cullum of Charing Cross, the 15” straight blade with shallow central fuller and blue and gilt decoration extending some 61/2”, the gilt cross-piece with swept quillons and 5-ball ‘half-shell’, the very fine chequered ivory grip bears a gilt escutcheon band this with crown over fouled anchor motif, octagonal gilt base band and pommel; the black leather scabbard with copper gilt chapes, the upper two only present, the lower areas of the blade pitted, some 60% of the blue and gilt decoration remains, the scabbard shrunken with the top chape loose £500-700
