The recipient was Cedric Llewellyn Longstaff, CBE, TD (1876-1950), of Lichfield, who commanded the Volunteer Services Co, E Surrey Regt, in South Africa (QSA with 5 clasps), served in WWI as a Capt, then Major, 6th N Staffs Regt, and became Hon Colonel of the 7th N Staffs Regt.
