Henry Bryan Everest passed his examination on 8 January 1836; and after serving for four years on the Lisbon and Mediteranean stations, as Mate of the Vanguard, and Devastation Steam Sloop, was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 10 August 1844. He subsequently served aboard the Calypso, Phoenix and Virago Steam Sloops.
