Joseph R. Roberson was a farmer who served in Queenstown T.G. in Boer War and in Enslin’s Horse in 1915 including German South-West Africa campaign. He was commissioned in the Rifle Brigade, Special Reserve, August 1915, promoted to Lieutenant then Captain in 1917. He served with the 7th (S) Bn. in 1916 and was severely wounded in the attack on Switch Trench on 15 September. He served with the 13th (S) Bn. in France in 1917 until invalided with enteritis 7 July 1917 and subsequently with the 6th (SR) and 51st Graduated Battalions.

Additionally entitled to 1914-15 Star.
