Colonel Neil MacKellar served with the 1st Foot during the Mahratta War of 1817-18 and commanded a Brigade at Nagpore. He was awarded the C.B. for these services and made Colonel by brevet on 12 August 1819. Colonel MacKellar died in 1837.
