Benjamin Blower was born at Wood Green, London, and enlisted for the 21st Hussars on 9 March 1893. He served in Egypt from October 1896 and took part in the Sudan campaign of 1898, including the battle of Omdurman where he served in “C” Squadron. He was transferred to the Army Reserve in February 1903, and was discharged on 8 March 1906.
