16th Century, 16th Century: Pewter token, c.1580-90, bust of Elizabeth I in ruff, ET ANGLIÆ GLORIA, reverse crowned phoenix rising from the flames, SOLA PHOENIX, 30mm, 5.24gm (M.I. 91/3; N –). Small cut in edge and one or two light surface blisters on reverse, otherwise very fine and one of the best known examples, very rare (£50-70)
