Lanteri, seated nurse between standing female and elderly man, rev. light from radiant star shines on ornate tablet, roses around, named (C. Phalempin, Commissaire Fondateur), 76mm (BM Acq. 1978-82, p.74, 33; BDM III, 302; BHM –; cf. DNW 39, 588). Good very fine and patinated, rare; in original green fitted case of issue (£50-70)

Although bearing the date 1890 the medal, which was struck in France, is dated to 1898 by Forrer and subsequent authors
