France, École d’Apprentissage Caudron-Renault, 1942, a bronze award plaque by M. Delannoy for Arthus-Bertrand, half-length figure of a man, fighter aircraft behind, promotion arrachart 1939 1942 below, rev. artisan in workshop, named (Cossart), 60 x 45mm. Very fine and very rare; in original maroon fitted case (£50-70)

An award sponsored by the Aviation Militaire Française. Following a Government directive to restructure the French aviation industry in 1933, the engineering and aviation pioneers Louis Renault (1877-1944) and René Caudron (1884-1959) pooled their resources, employing 2,000 people at their aviation plants at Billancourt and Issy. It is suggested that the type of aircraft depicted on the plaque is the Rafale
