France, Les Éprouvés de la Guerre, 1917, a plated bronze plaque by R. Lamourdedieu, partly disrobed young female and her child seated in the middle of the ruins of her house, ICI LES BARBARES SONT PASSES, rev. robed female figure offering compassion to another female seated with her daughter, wounded man being helped along a path by an elderly lady in background, 70 x 56mm (CGMP p.220; BDM VII, 529; cf. DNW 37, 1258). Very fine; a powerful rendition of the horrors of war on innocent civilians (£40-60)
