Robert Alfred Charles Burnett was killed on 29 November 1943 whilst serving with No. 206 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. His name is commemorated on the Gibraltar Memorial.

Entries in his log book include the following operations, all in Flying Fortresses:

28.4.1943 - Air sea rescue search for crew of Beaufort. 9.5.1943 - Convoy escort in Bay of Biscay. Recalled, bad weather. U-Boat sighting. 6.6.1943 - C.L.A. sweep. Search for U-Boat.
18.8.1943 - Convoy escort. S.N.74. 28.11.1943 - C.L.A. Sweep. Crashed - killed in action.
