A scarce Great War ‘East Africa casualty’ group of three to Private W. H. Dimmock, 25th (Frontiersman) Battalion, Royal Fusiliers

William Horace Dimmock was born in Cradley Heath and enlisted at Soseley, Staffordshire. He was killed in action in East Africa on 23 June 1915 whilst serving with the 25th (Frontiersman) Battalion, Royal Fusiliers. He is buried at Dar Es Salaam War Cemetery.

Approximately ten weeks after Dimmock’s death, Lieutenant Wilbur Dartnell, also of the 25th Battalion, was awarded the Victoria Cross for conspicuous bravery and self sacrifice in East Africa.
