Sparrowhawk) together with companion set of miniatures, official correction to the last, otherwise nearly extremely fine (14) £200-250

B.E.M. London Gazette 31 December 1976: ‘Samuel Pinkney, Revenue Assistant, Board of Customs and Excise.’

An accompanying copy news cutting states: ‘Mr Pinkney, who retired on December 31 last, is awarded the B.E.M. His extensive knowledge of the people and practises in the port of Lowestoft earned him respect and authority beyond his rank. He was severely wounded at Narvik when a seaman in the Royal Navy.’
