B.E.M. London Gazette 6 June 1946 ‘... in recognition of gallant and distinguished services in Burma.’ The recommendation states: ‘This NCO was employed in Bde. H.Q. as a clerk for over three years. During all that period he maintained a standard of efficiency and unremitting attention to detail which was far above the average. Owing to casualties and sickness he had frequently to carry out duties which were considerably in excess of the normal, but his cheerful acceptance of these tasks, his energy and his outstanding reliability never wavered. An intensely loyal subordinate, he was gifted with exceptional tact and courtesy in addition to his other qualities. His lot was cast in an employment which does not as a rule catch the eye, but this NCO’s devotion to duty, exceptional initiative, common sense, and meticulous performance under all and every circumstance showed him to be a soldier of outstanding worth.’
