Military Medal, G.V.R. (KP-511 A.S. F. Baker, Anson Bn. R.N.V.R.) extremely fine £200-250

M.M. London Gazette 17 April 1917.

Frederick Baker was born in Nottingham on 26 June 1892, and enlisted into the Northumberland Fusiliers in September 1914. He transferred to the Anson Battalion, Royal Naval Division, in January 1915, and was detached to Stavros while serving with the M.E.F. He was wounded by shrapnel in the knee on 28 May 1915 and subsequently spent periods of time in hospital suffering from thrombosis and a septic hand. He returneed to the U.K. in November 1916 and proceeded to France the following month. He was invalided to England in April 1917, suffering from pyrexia, and sent to Essex County Hospital. Whilst there he was presented with the M.M. by General Blomfield on 14 May, but appears to have lost his medal and was issued with another one, on repayment, in November 1917. Sold with full service record.
