Roland Richardson was born on 25 March 1896 and was appointed 2nd Lieutenant, Indian Army, in 1915. He served during the Great War (Military Cross); South Persia 1918-19; Afghanistan N.W.F. 1919; Waziristan 1919-20; Kurdistan 1923; North West Frontier 1936-37 (despatches
London Gazette 18 February 1938). Colonel 1940; Temporary Major-General 1943; Major-General 1944; Companion of the Bath 1944. Major-General Roland Richardson retired in 1948 and went to live in Cashel, Rhodesia, where he died on 20 November 1973.
