Three: Private John Brisnahan, 44th Foot, later 19th Foot

Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Sebastopol (44th Regt.) officially impressed naming; China 1857-60, 1 clasp, Taku Forts 1860 (44th Regt.) officially impressed naming; Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., small letter reverse (2296 Pte., 2-19th Foot) the first two with contact marks, otherwise nearly very fine, the last good very fine (3) £350-400

John Brisnahan was born in the Parish of Shutehall, near Tralee, County Kerry, and enlisted at Tralee for the 57th Regiment on 13 August 1853, aged 17 years 1 month. He transferred to the 44th Regiment on 1 July 1854, and served with the regiment in the Crimea and in China. He received a bullet wound in the left hand before Sebastopol on 18 June 1855. Never rising beyond the rank of private, John Brisnahan re-engaged to complete 21 years in July 1864, and volunteered to the 95th Regiment in October 1865. He transferred to the 2nd Battalion 19th Regiment in February 1870 and was finally discharged on 6 October 1865. Sold with copy service papers.
