HMS Caradoc, an interesting large carved badge showing a Naval crown, the Welsh Dragon and ship’s title, accompanying research indicates that the ship, a paddle sloop was used as transport in the Crimean War and was attached to Lord Raglan’s Staff. The Caradoc was launched in 1847 and after later service in the Mediterranean returned to Portsmouth in 1869, when she was sold on 12 May, 1870, to E. Bates. Together with a framed photostat copy of a contemporary lithograph showing the Carodoc in the Allied Crimean fleet, some damage to the Naval crown (2) £50-80
