Royal Humane Society case no. 37976 ‘At 7pm on 24 November 1910 at Southampton Dock, a man took a fit and fell in 20 feet from the quay in a depth of 30 feet when it was dark and very cold. James Osborne, a Customs Officer jumped in and caught him and he was got on with a rope and ladder. Osborne being taken into a boat after twenty minutes in the water.’ Sold with additional biographical information.
